Before I formed you, Mavery, in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart.

All about Mavery

I have had some emails with questions about Mavery, so thought I would just let you get to know her to!

  • Her full name is Mavery Raye JinSong. The Raye is a combo of my middle name and Marks middle name.
  • She is a chunk! We weighed her in our room at 30 pounds. She has a belly on her and her legs are so chubby, I love it! And of course those cheeks, you can't help but squeeze them and kiss on them!
  • Size, she is wearing 3t clothes that I brought and those are good. The 3t jeans were a little saggy but with an adjustable waist we did fine. I brought size 5 shoes and they are good. She is very similar in size to Sage.
  • Her coloring is exactly like Sages I think. Darker skin and jet black hair. Though her hair seems thicker than Sage's. Renee, I am using the shampoo you gave me, hoping it helps it grow in as beautiful as Lillys!
  • She acts older than Sage in alot of ways. (they are 20 days apart) but I think that is because she is calmer about everything. She is very dainty when she eats and when she walks. I am really shocked at how advanced she is, but after seeing Jinhua, I guess that explains things.
  • She is a girly girl! She LOVES to put on her jewelry and won't take it off even to sleep. She likes the bows (Thank goodness) and we had fun painting toes. Putting on lotion is her favorite thing to do. There was definatly no hair bows or girly dresses at Jinhua!
  • She has still not let go of her play phone. She has stopped dialing so much so I guess she has given up on a rescue from 911! She wants that in bed with her also. I had sent it in a care package earlier this year, who knew the $5 Walmart find would be so great!
  • She has the funniest walk ever. She almost struts and she acts like she is walking with a purpose. She sticks her belly out and it just makes me smile.
  • She speaks very clearly and I got some great video of her tonight talking. I "think" she is counting.
  • You might not know, but Mavery is a heart baby and had open heart surgery. Her "scar" is bigger than I thought. The middle of her chest has a large bulge to it, you can tell when you hold her or even through her clothes. It is very hard and this is scar tissue build up we think. We were told this is cosmetic and that it might go down on it's own or she can do cosmetic surgery when she is older if she chooses. She will meet with a heart specialist when we get home but we believe that all she is going to need is yearly visits to the heart doctor. She is healthy and her color is very good. If you read Maverys poem (link on top of blog,) you can see why we think that bulge is there, it is us in her heart!
  • She says Mama, Baba and hi! Along with tons of chinese that we don't understand. She will repeat sometimes what we say, and she loves to look at pictures and repeat the names. Her speech is very clear and her voice is the cutest thing ever!
  • She is SMART. You can just see her little mind going all the time and if you show her how to do something (press play on the video camera, the ipod, etc, she does not forget)
  • She is ORNERY! She can tease and enjoys joking around. I think we are in trouble when she and Sage start working against us!
  • She is sleeping well, though tonight she refused the crib and is sleeping in my bed so we will see what happens there once I get back in bed for the night.
  • She is TOTALLY potty trained! How do we know she needs to use the potty since we do not speak chinese? Easy, screaming and pulling her pants down means get me to a potty now! That is universal for any language I think! We hope that she is going to teach Sage in this area, unless those back home did the job for us! ;0)

I can't wait till I really know her and can share more with you!
